Starts awesome, keeps being pretty good (Cheek Smooch of Reluctant Friendzone FTW), gets corny and stupid (LOOOOOOL SOB STORY TIEM OUT OF NOWHERE), gets awesome again (BOOK 1 TITLE YOU MAKE SENSE NOW), has potential to break my brain with awesome.
And then the last two minutes happen and I go…
I knew that a lot of people were going to hate it, because it was a happy ending rife with deus ex machina, but I actually thought it was pretty well done. It tied up book 1 beautifully while leaving some great hooks and a lot of potential for book 2, just without a cliffhanger, which would have admittedly pissed me off. I think a dark, depressing turn could have been good too, but there’s plenty of opportunity for that later on. There’s still over half the series left to go.
